John graduated from Melbourne University in 1976, and after working in mixed practice he relocated back to Gippsland in 1979, where he was employed by Traralgon Vet Centre. John eventually purchased the business in 1983 and then took on a partner in 2005. John enjoys mixed practice and has a valued interest in equine where he has been regularly treating Gippsland horses for a number of years. John is married and has 4 children and 3 grandchildren, and he has a passion for racehorses.

Dr. Garth Jackson

Garth Jackson graduated from Melbourne University in 1995.

After graduating Garth worked at Numurkah Veterinary Clinic for a number of years before relocating back to Gippsland. He has since worked at Traralgon Vet Centre and has become a partner. Garth has a love of large animals and is particularly interested in Bovine work. Garth is regularly found to be preg testing cattle. Garth is married and has 2 children and lives on a 300 acre beef farm.

Tegan joined the team in early 2017 as a small and large animal veterinarian, with a keen interest in cattle. Tegan graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Whilst studying at university she worked as a veterinary nurse at Cheltenham Veterinary Clinic. Outside of work Tegan enjoys spending her time bike riding, swimming and reading novels.

Dr Kate has been working as a vet in Gippsland since 2007. Kate focuses solely on small animals. Kate is talented in many areas but most of all she is a highly skilled surgeon. She is passionate about geriatric and end of life care with a strong focus on quality of life and pain management. Outside of work Kate is kept busy with her three young children and enjoys gardening, wood work and a variety of artistic pursuits.

Dr. Lisel Nichols

Lisel joined our team in early 2019. She hails from small farm in Tasmania and in her spare time enjoys adventuring in the great outdoors. She has very diverse veterinary interests, particularly animal behaviour, surgery, cattle obstetrics and equine medicine. She has a soft spot for working dogs, so bring forth all your kelpies, cattle dogs and border collies!

Jane is the clinic’s financial manager and maintains the office operations and procedures, amongst many other things. She has been with the clinic since 2005 and although most of her work is behind-the-scenes, she can be found assisting in the reception area as well as secretly being a very handy Vet Nurse! Jane has witnessed numerous changes at the clinic from moving from the old Stock Supplies building into the new clinic to the formation of the Traralgon Veterinary Centre partnership of Dr. John Plozza and Dr. Garth Jackson.  Jane spends most of her time outside of work driving her two teenage boys around!

Hayley is the Clinic Manager as well as being a qualified Veterinary Nurse. Hayley is responsible for the daily running of the clinic and supervising the hospital and surgery cases. Hayley is an experienced hospital, surgical and equine nurse. She thrives in emergency situations and she is known for going above and beyond to ensure the best possible care is provided for every patient. Outside of work Hayley enjoys riding her many horses.

Toni is our main receptionist. She has a wonderfully caring nature and can also be found regularly assisting with Veterinary Nursing duties. Her bubbly attitude and professional manner make her a pleasure to have around.

Leonie joined our team in 2017 as a qualified Veterinary Nurse. She is a fantastic all rounder and is capable in all aspects of small animal nursing. Leonie’s witty sense of humor keeps us all entertained. That, along with her talented nursing skills make her a great asset to our team. Leonie enjoys spending her home time with her family of four and her two giant dogs.

Karae began her Veterinary Nursing Traineeship at the clinic in 2018. Karae has a very thoughful and caring approach to her nursing and we admire her sweet nature and cheeky sense of humour. Outside of work Karae spends her time riding and competing on her stockhorses.

Colleen joined our team in early 2015 as a qualified Veterinary Nurse having completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Colleen has also completed short courses in advanced anaesthesia monitoring and cardiovascular systems and diseases in cats & dogs. Colleen has been working as a veterinary nurse throughout the district since 2006 and is a very experienced and skilled hospital and surgical nurse.
